This was the pair I sent your way a few years ago. Very bright red. Rare.

I think Florsheim colored the pairs enough to make sure the left and right Shell matched. The color from pair to pair is similar but not consistent.

I still love that pair even though they are in the closet of one of my sons.

Trial run for these Imperial NST, 1967 vintage. I got these in that 7-pair haul at Salvation Army last month. They're a bit too snug, so I'll probably be putting them up for sale.

This Florsheim split toe model seems to be building a cult following.

I know @jpm1 really digs this pair. I previously owned an Indian made pair that I ran into the ground. They were cheaply constructed and had rubber soles.

When I started collecting vintage shoes, I didn't warm up to split toes for the longest time. Finally I came around. I hope to add a matching black pair.

Andrew Morden had to rebuild these from scratch. New welts, midsoles, soles, and ribbing. And toe plates to extend their life. JR soles should keep these in good stead. I hope everyone has a great finish to the summer.

Great looking pair. There's not a whole lot of them on the secondary market.

A few observations:

I now have way more shark shoes than a regular person should have (I think 6?)

I have not cleaned these up. But, I do like them!

I need some tan/brown socks! I can’t find any!

Very few. I saw a matching black pair in Japan. @Oshare Was doing me a solid for alerting me to the availability. I opted not to get them due to the shipping costs.

And you know how the rest of the story goes. I himmed and hawed. Slept on it. Messaged @Oshare A few times. Finally decided not to get them. And regretting that decision ever since.

Too many regrets on shoes I didn't buy. Rarely regret the ones I do buy. Yet I never seem to learn.

Was the seller a vintage dress shoe fan/hoarder but never got around to wearing all of them and moved on to non-dress shoe?

I think these Whippet / Wright Arch Preserver are from the 40s or earlier base on the label/marking. It's an uncommon derby style but still cool looking.

@jpm1 Was this around your size?

They’re cool, but not that old. That’s a very 1960s style.

I think he really liked shoes. He had doubles and triples of some styles. I just got off the phone with him and apparently he was holding out on me.

He had another buyer swoop in and get the rest of his collection. A total of 31 pair!!!! Was it one of you all?

He did say I got all the Florsheim Shell Cordovan. But, the other buyer got AE Shell Cordovan.

He said he still has quite a few that he is keeping. I asked him to keep me in mind in the future.

I sure would like to go to his estate sale (not soon, I’m not wishing anything bad).

Hell, one day some group like this might be talking about my estate sale! There will definitely be shoes! I’m only 47, so I think I have plenty of time.

My wife does know that when I die, I should be buried in the nicest pair of Shell Cordovan shoes I own at the time.

She wants to take her Louis Vuitton with her, but we have three daughters that will argue that point.
