Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

Half of my shoes arrived.

Two pair 13005 (Black Shell PTB) one NOS and the other VERY light wear in boxes!

1 pair NOS 92604

1 pair 93631 (Golden Harvest!) very light wear but oddly a replacement sole.

Ill take more individual pictures once the whole collection arrives. I’m definitely keeping one pair of Golden Harvest. Another pair arrives tomorrow.

Either the lighting or my monitor make those GH look tan. But they look like they are in great condition. Congrats.

I think part of the color is the lighting. But, they do look slightly darker than I expected. I was wondering if they were a little dirty or if the previous owner had used some tan polish. I wonder if I could try to clean them a little to remove any gunk or grime?

@Hotel Cali -- which dye/color did you use for those? That is the direction I want to take a pair of 93603s I have. I assume you stripped the 93602s down to the bare leather with acetone or similar solvent.

Speaking of NOS vintage here are a pair from my collection. Bottom ones is the true red brown vintage colour. 1940s semi spade British Walkers

@Hotel Cali -- which dye/color did you use for those? That is the direction I want to take a pair of 93603s I have. I assume you stripped the 93602s down to the bare leather with acetone or similar solvent.

The dye was Angelus red.

Yes, I had stripped with acetone and did two coats of dye.

The classic 93602 that I bought NOS. All original parts.

These were listed for 185, back in the day when I hesitated and had to consult our leaders @smfdoc and @davidVC .

Given my experience today, I would have jumped on these even for 350.

Wearing them for an online zoom class I am teaching today.
