Cleaned up the crystal (it's cracked, so as good as it gets) and replaced the battery on this 1960s Bulova Accutron.

Cue sad trombone sound. The watch didn't start running. Sigh.

My first vintage or used purchase. B Mason Executive Imperial. One of my favourites given the fit and look. Definitely cheaper materials were used.

These are back from a cobbler. New house leather soles, Vibram Raptor sole protectors, toe plates, and cat paw heels.

The Raptor is really thick and I likely won't ask for these again. But I can feel the traction. The shoes feel like new after the rebuild.

Those sole protectors have a tread like a monster truck - you can probably go 4-wheeling in them. ;)

New acquisition: Sears, comfort arch, number 74667. These are heavy! Could they be made -for- Sears Hanovers? Size: 12EE.

Did Hanover just use genuine leather for uppers even on its Sears models?

These look almost like Hush Puppy like construction to me, but they are welted.

Not sure about Sears, but Hanover made Towncraft have real welt. All the Hush Puppy I have seen are cemented, and some with the fake welt on the top.

Yeah, Hushpuppies are pretty garbage shoes in terms of construction. Just genuine leather is the crappiest type of leather, and Hanover made great shoes otherwise.

But it was geared towards Sears, which specialized in blue collar work wear.

Which cobbler do you use? JR soles?
I want to put JR on them. I use a cobbler here in Charlotte NC that is SSIA (Dean's shoe). I have about three pair that I picked up second hand that need the treatment. I usually assume seconds will need new cork. Sometimes I can put some orthotics in them which may delay the resole. I'm a PT and tweaking some orthotics with a DPM friend of mine. Working on the lowest profile orthotic he can make at the moment but not complete yet.
