Have a cobbler install grommets to slow down the cracking in the eyelets. I do that for all my vintage shells now.

Also- just curious- would you preemptively install grommets/eyelets on NOS shell/brand new shell, or only shell that has already begun to crack?

All of my shell are used and vintage. One pair is NOS. 2 pairs cracked at eyelets, so I had cobbler install grommets. Going forward, all of my shells will get grommets I installed.

Interesting shell MacNeils with a commando sole (size 10.5 D). Listing ends in 2 hours. 20 watchers, so it will likely go much higher than the current $61 bid. NML

I picked up three nice pairs of 1960's Dacks shoe trees from @mariusscott. They are all my size (10D), and they will go a long way towards allowing me to have period correct shoe trees in all my personal Dack's shoes.

A friend was asking me if that means that all of the rest of 10s from the personal collection would now need to be sold? Yah know... since you can't have non-period correct trees, obviously.

Help me Guys:

Please, I need help desperately....I didn't think I had a problem until the lock-down. I've tried, God knows I've tried but I can't handle this....
I've run out of Lexol!!! I've taken to carrying an old polishing cloth in my pocket to remind me of the full, rich, manly scent of Lexol soaking into a pair of fine shell cordovan vintage LWBs.. I'm even considering sleeping with a pair of vintage shoes and the old bottle of Lexol under my pillow. I getting close to rock bottom guys, please enable my problem and send me a care package. I'll take any kind of Lexol product, a half bottle will do.
Send me a PM but for goodness sake do it quickly before there's a bigger problem..............

Funny you say this - I just dropped some coin last night on a package of shoe care supplies. Must be the quarantine talking...

Ok, @friendlygoz, I just bought these FootJoy. Your move. . .

Nice pick up. I’m waiting to get pictures from the seller. The toes on the pair I’m watching look really scuffed. Post pix of your when you have them in hand.

Continuing the WFH footwear saga with these rather unfortunate 93606s. I stupidly bought them knowing that the tongues were both cracked/crumbling, and despite several rounds of conditioning before I wore them, the eyelets immediately cracked. They still pass the 5-foot test though, and on the bright side, both tongues seem to have stabilized. Unfortunately, they're a bit big, and require a heavy sock to not flop around horribly on my feet, so they're relegated to the test bin or for wearing around the house.

Sorry to hear about their condition. From the photo, they still look nice, though.

Question: What's the "5-foot test"?
