Could someone please tell me how Wolverine 1000 Mile boots fit compared to a typical Florsheim LWB like at 93602?

With the LWB my best fit is a 9.5E, but from the look of it, the 1000 Mile boot is roomier and I'm wondering if I could get away with a 9D.

I've got my eye on this pair and wondering if I could make it work without cutting off part of my toes.

I have 2 pairs of 93602 in 8.5eee, and a pair of 1000 Mile in. 8.5eee.

The 93602s fit TTS.

1000 Miles are exceptionally wide. Ridiculously wide. I wear thick socks and they are still roomy. I should go with 8eee or 8.5D.

Any chance you can try on a few sizes in Japan? I have learned that Red Wing has a cult like following in Japan and parts of Asia. There are even Japan exclusive RW models.

As comparison, the 1000 Miles fit similar to my 8.5ee Red Wings. My 8.5ee Chippewa Ellisons fit perfectly with thick wool socks.

I am looking at Parkhurst next. Made in USA, and reviews seem positive. The owner is quite hands on and the prices are attractive. Check them out.

Since AE has revived a few pairs of boots in shell, I will look for returns and used pairs in the future. I am too cheap to buy a new pair.

I’ve never personally owned a pair, but they have a reputation for being… not great. Then again, I’m overjoyed with my Stuart McGuires which were also previously cited as somewhat mediocre, but they needed a ton of TLC from a cobbler (new cork, new heel stack, etc) before they began to really shine. They came in OK shape, but that really upped the comfort. At such a low price point, it might be worth the gamble.

Florsheim LWBs in CG on a rainy day. Originally had suicide heels. I had a cobbler rebuild them with Vibram Eton soles.

Let me try to reciprocate! I probably would not suggest going with a 9. I had a pair of the shell AE/Wolverine boots in a 9.5D. I believe the fit is the same as the regular Wolverine Wolverines. For me, they were wearable but a little small. I think your best bet is to stick with your 93602 size (ie. 9.5). They are pretty forgiving in terms of width but I wouldn't suggest sizing down.

I would say no - don't size down. I'm generally about an 8.5C in Florsheim, and my 9D Wolverines are a bit big without a Superfeet Blue insole, but still wearable. I could maybe size down to an 8D with no insoles, but again, I have a narrow foot.

I just compared the fit (same socks, no added insoles) to my slightly-too-big 93606s in 9C, and they feel like they're a 1-width difference. Similar length, and the Florsheims are snug (but not uncomfortable) with a boot sock, while the Wolverines have maybe 1/3" of extra room at the ball. My guess is that a 9.5D would be initially snug for you, but stretch to fit. I would only go down to a 9D if you were planning on wearing them with thinner socks.

Hey all, dropping in from my usual 'hood in the thrift thread to share these NOS English House Shoes from Fortnum & Mason. Quite surprised to see them at an estate sale. The font and printing make them look like they're decades old, yet unworn. Nothing much showing up online, so I respectfully submit them to the expertise of this thread. Anyone got intel?

I would venture a guess that they were made for Fortnum's by Shipton and Heneage, which even today produces slippers to be house branded by various shops, and uses that same "Turned by Hand" typeface. Shipton was founded in the 1980s. By the time I was shopping at Fortnum's in the late 80s/early 90s they had a pretty large mens shop and a good shoe and slipper selection. Perhaps that 80s-early 90s time frame gives these a ~35 years ago date for these.
