I have more Alden 990s than I need, and fewer than I want. Not looking for sympathy, but understanding. Please don't judge me.

70's vintage with the 4-A's logo on the right, in 13 D. I absolutely love these shoes. Got them in a trade with a fellow thrift bro from the Brag thread, cleaned them up and even re-stitched the tongues. They're one of my favorite pairs.

Then the thrift gods send me these. I should probably sell them. But it's not a purely financial decision. I mean just look at them.

Super old post, but I'm new so please forgive me for the late reply. I was at a small, local church-affiliated thrift store yesterday. No decent shoes but you will spot the darndest things there.

I am having a brain fart. But is that a vibrator?

Not my listing.

Got all the vintage shoes you could ever want? How about a fancy-pants shoe shine alter?

Looking at the thumbnail image of it, I thought it might have been the Ark of the Covenant instead.

Last night I decided to take a look at my extra shoe closet. It is the place I store some shoes that need repair or shoes that aren’t quite the right size, some shoes I need to get rid of (but can’t let go) and a few pair I rarely wear.

One such pair was a very neglected pair of vintage Footjoy Tassel Loafers. I cant remember what happened to these. But, they looked rough!

Here’s a few before pictures:

I spent some time cleaning them up. First step some neatsfoot oil. Then some brushing, followed by a little bit of an OLD tin of Florsheim black boot polish, and more brushing. Then, a TINY amount of pate de lux on the toe with vigorous polishing and brushing. I didn’t want a hard spit shine, but I wanted to protect the toe and see if I could lessen the bumps and bruises.
I am always surprised and pleased by the quality of the leather on these vintage Foot-joy.

I think they turned out pretty well!

I must have been in the groove, because I spent a little time on my 93605 for Wingtip Wednesday.

According to data on Vcleat, these are from 1966.
