Those are from when Stacy Adams actually made good shoes, I would put them around 1960. A great pickup for sure!

I'm gonna jump the gun for tomorrow. These Florsheim blue labels may be too casual for the offices of Sterling Cooper but I believe they are correct for the era. I have found a number of "Arch Prop" by Florsheim shoes from the 50s and 60s online but none of this basic cap toe model.

Looks like February 1962 to me.

John Glenn was orbiting earth when these were being made.
Someone was wearing these when Marilyn Monroe died. Don Draper was sad.
    I should have a martini.

Those look great. As I understand it, Stacy Adams made excellent shoes back in the day. That's a fantastic score. Post the pictures once you get them cleaned up.

These would be perfect for an episode of Mad Men.

    Mad Men Friday.

I think vintage Alden short wing tips fit the bill.

New to me and recently acquired Alden 645 get the call on a very cold day.

    Vendor dinner last night.

Florsheim SWB with candy cane laces.

Spotted a guy wearing some wild lizard captoe spectators. Talked with him for a bit. He got them on the SE side of Chicago and kept calling them Linnard brand.

Not sure on the date of these, but I think Don Draper would approve.

With apologies to the professional albeit fictional sloganeers at Sterling Cooper, for me today’s tagline could be: ‘It’s not a pair of shoes, it’s Thrift Life’
    2B682B35-EC93-43F7-8046-6981BA7916A3.jpeg
Blazer: Zegna for Louis Boston $10
    Shirt: Zegna current label $7
Pants: Loro Piana chinos from 2017 Thrift Thread Thriftmas Gift Exchange $0
Belt: Johnston & Murphy MIUSA $4
Shoes: ethrifted Alden 563 shell tassel loafers $60
Rolex Datejust: not thrifted but 22 years old and still ticking, so $0.50 a day by now
(Louis Boston was a top quality men’s store in Boston, now among The Departed).

I love how you roll. I'm on the same train. I'm also learning how to do alternations, so I'm hoping that I can be less picky (in terms of size and fit) buying thrift clothes knowing I can do the alternations.

I do buttons and tapering the sides on some things, but spend to have cuffs done professionally. December is a great month to thrift because with the change in weather people give away things they don’t wear and look for things to donate to get deductions.
