I wonder if this #1 pair was made from legendary reindeer leather salvaged from a 1786 shipwreck or just a reproduct, George Cleverley Co. was the one who made Russian reindeer shoes for New&Lingwood during that period.

Nope. The original sunken calf leather was not used in pre-sized footwear. Be happy about that. That old leather has all cracked up terribly if it's been worn.

Haven't posted in a while as the summer weather has been extended. I suspect by October the cold will roar in, so I'll be back in shoes. I also haven't bought anything in a long time. My wife imposed a watch buying freeze until Februrary 2025. So I decided to add footwear into that freeze.

And honestly, I haven't been tempted by anything. I still look and admire, of course.

Then this eBay seller made an offer. I leisurely made a counter offer of $30. And it was accepted. This pair has been sitting around for a while. Price fluctuated. Pics are from seller.

A barrister can always use another pair of black toecaps. Especially in NOS condition for $30. I'll have a cobbler install toe taps and sole savers to maximize their life.

At this point I feel that my collection is complete. I might add some more boots. But I've reached the point of "meh" unless it's a really good deal. Wishing you all a nice weekend ahead.

A wonderful cool and sunny day outside.

Alfred Sargent brown suede Chelsea boots. I'll need to brush the dust off later.
