Hard to say exactly unless you just know or it's stamped. I'd guess oak bark or pit tanned bend from an American or German tannery.

They weren't. But it's astounding how much more resilient they are. Even my jrs are failing me on my aldens I had resoled

With the holiday on Monday I lost track of the days, so no wingtips for me. But do have a lovely pair of shell LB Sheppard PTBs.

Did some work on a couple of my shell pairs: Hanover Sheppard LWBs and Florsheim PTBs.

Decided to try Blackrock on them, very happy with the results. Still want to shine them a bit more, but that'll be another day.

Found this Italian Cole Haan’s recently. Not an expert on construction but they do look nice.

I recall they were welted, but I'm not 100% sure on that. They are circa 1999 and were part of the Trafton Collection, a somewhat limited release celebrating one of the original founders Trafton Cole. They were by far the nicest shoes in their collection at the time and priced accordingly. There were 6 or 8 patterns in the collection I believe.

Who's the current favorite cobbler around these parts: Bedo's, or Sunny? I live halfway between the two of them, haha.

(After posting my latest shell photo, I realized my Florsheims need a resole, not just heels.)

Wyatt & Dad do incredible work for a reasonable price.

I concur. I have had work done by both Bedo’s and Wyatt & Dad and both are very good. Wyatt has better prices and reasonable turn around times. I would use them again for the next project.

That feeling when a "quick touch-up" ends up being a stripping and refinishing.
