Maybe made by Alfred Sargent.
I hope so but the fudging is really pronounced compared to an old pair of Allen Edmonds. Anyways it’s a treat to wear but I can’t go sockless in them haha

I found these at a thrift store and took pictures of them awhile ago, and forgot to post them. These are Mezlan "Cartegena" basketweave monkstraps, my first pair of monkstraps.

I don't know much about the brand but they seem to be decent enough quality, made in Spain. I think they are probably from the later 90s so not quite as old as most of my shoes. I normally don't buy shoes that use generic widths but with the strap in the tightest position these act as fairly well fitting slip-ons.

Back to school for 4 days. The provincial prosecutor office runs an appeal program and has spots for external candidates. The faculty includes Court of Appeal and Supreme Court judges.

If I can't persuade with my words and writing, then I do it with colours.

These are Canadian made Ritchie shoes to kick off the week. If I was a betting man, I'd say I'll be the best dressed.

I have a pair of 60’s Florsheim LWB in suede. I have only heard of two other pairs. A white pair and and a light blue pair. A guy on the Florsheim Facebook group found another pair and I was lucky enough to get them.

My other pair are typical suede soft and “nappy” like one would expect.

However this new (to me) pair is much smoother and also a little firmer. I don’t know enough about suede to determine if these are nubuck, or roughout suede or “reverse.” Or perhaps “waxed suede”?

Either way, I am thrilled to have them!

I previously mentioned the Florsheim patent leather shoes I picked up for formal night on a cruise.

On a related note, I wanted several shirts for "formal" night. I can't really justify buying multiple tuxedo shirts to accommodate studs for the buttons, so I modified several of my current dress shirts to use either existing buttons OR the tuxedo studs. Start with an existing dress shirt. This one already had French cuffs.

I sewed in a 5/16 button hole just above the existing button. Yeah, I am handy that way.

The 5/16 hole securely holds the back of the stud and allows the front of the stud through.

Now the shirt will work with either buttons or studs.
