Japan was slow out of the gate, but I was finally able to get my first vaccination shot today. 93602s carried me through.

I hate needles, so as an after-jab reward, I got some sushi at a stand up bar that I hadn't been to in over 2 years.
This place is great. I really should come more often.

Have Shoes - Will Travel

Japan is the best for food. Never had a bad meal while I was cruising around on the Shinkansen a few years back with a 2-week Rail Pass. Made it all the way from Wakkanai to Nagasaki. Whether it was a festival, beer garden, street fair, etc. Even the Konbini ready made stuff was good. I hope to make it back one of these days.

Great shoes, but I was curious about the cost of the sushi lunch. What would that 9 piece lunch cost in US dollars?

Hi Guys:

I know it's a little off topic, but in Vancouver we have excellent Japanese restaurants. You can get a Bento box lunch all over the City for between $6 and $15 depending on where you are. Always excellent as we have a large population of ex-pat and second/third generation Japanese people living here. The fish is super fresh because well, Vancouver, eh?

Wow. You travelled far! I've never been to Hokkaido even though I lived close to it for a couple years. I really should travel around Japan a bit more. Like you said: Have Shoes - Will Travel!

And yes, I totally agree. Japan is awesome for food. It's really hard to go wrong here.

$8 plus consumption tax.

This was a good deal and the sushi is excellent. It is their weekday lunch special, but they do not skimp on the quality of the toppings. Much, much better that large chain sushi places, and cheaper to boot.

:) not the first time I hear that comment from friends that live/lived in Japan. That I had seen more of Japan than they had in three weeks of being there.

Apologies for the huge hijack.

Wakkanai is way up there. I took my youngest son skiing not too far away in Niseko twelve years ago, and he still talks about it as a highlight of all the adventure sports things he’s ever done. They get about 50 feet of powder a year and the mountains are only about 4,000 feet at the top, so you can ski all day without getting fatigued by altitude sickness like in the Rockies and even the Sierras sometimes. Then there's the great food and onsen hot springs waiting at the end of the day. Japan is great.

This NIB NOS Footjoy has not made David's list yet.

I like the different pattern ... kind of like a JM Weston.

I've been avoiding public transportation and going into the office during the Olympics -- just trying to avoid taking unnecessary risks. But today I had to go into work, so I picked my John McHale Florsheims to get me through the day.

I ordered a couple sets of the flat laces that @friendlygoz mentioned last month and put a set on these shoes because the old laces were getting frayed. These look nice, but I have to say that they are hard to loosen and tighten since the width makes them fairly snug going through the holes. Maybe they'll get better after a bit of time?

One of my favourite pairs for comfort and style. These are ET Wright (Breather Wright arch preservers).

Extremely comfortable and work with so many outfit combos. Wore them out for an unseasonably cool morning.

Corey Hiltz reinforced them with crespino sole protectors, and cat paw heels. The stock heels were wearing away quickly.

Happy long weekend to the Canadian members.
