Size 11.5C bros, these look pretty good with 5 hours to go in the auction (not mine). Like the 990 but on TTS M58 last.

Cross posted from the "Dacks and other Canadian shoe brands" thread:

An exotic find! Yesterday I went to the thrift store and found these camel wingtip derby shoes by Hartt. I think I've seen the same pair on eBay but by Dack's and in black.

They appear to have been resoled at some point, since the sole says "made in Italy" and claims that they are a size 10-11 which isn't the case.

Most of the information inside is worn off but in one shoe the size code of 585 is intact, revealing these to be 8.5 E in size. The inside leather seems quite a bit more worn than that of the outside.

While the outer leather is in much better shape there are still a few small scuffs and areas of discolouration.

Unfortunately they aren't anywhere close to my regular size of 10.5 B so I can't wear them, but they're still one of the most interesting pairs of shoes I've found in a thrift store since I rarely find any worth mentioning. I think they might be from the early 1980s but I'm not entirely sure.
Does anybody know what these might be worth? I might try to sell them somewhere, or just keep them as an interesting piece of discussion.

AE MacNeils in shell. I e-thrifted these hoping to flip for a profit. But they ended up fitting me. So I got them rebuilt with JR soles, toe taps, and grommets.

Wore these out to get groceries. An older lady (70s) commented that all of her well dressed cousins and uncles had LWBs. She specifically said "Florsheim Long wing tips."

Nice to know I can bring back good memories.

I’ve been on the lookout for those and I’m jealous that a fellow 9D brother found a pair. Great shoe!
I actually have a second pair I got last year which is unfortunately sitting in my parents' home (along with numerous other shoes and paraphernalia procured via the 'Bay) while I've been unable to return to the states.
If I'm looking to pare down the collection I will keep you in mind for the Hinsdales! Just to note the shoe runs a bit longer and slightly wider than most AE 9D I've tried

I have a sizing question.
I wear 9e in alden barrie longwings and ptb. the aldens seem a little long..a little more than a thumbs width between my big toe and the front of the shoe... but the width works. I actually have a pair of alden cap toe boots in 9ee and they're very comfortable. I also have a pair of alden plaza 9e that are a little snug width wise, but still good lengthwise. the plazas are suede so I think they give more than the shell and although they are a tiny bit shorter than the barrie, it works.
I'm interested in florsheim and hanovers. how do they relate to the aldens?
I think I could go a little shorter but not at the expense of the width.
Do I get 9e or 9.5e? Do I need ee?!
thanks
