Bought these vintage Hermès loafers at a thrift. I think 1970s?

Look to only have been worn a few times. the toe taps look to be a preventative measure

I don't think I got the swag to them pull them off. Available for trade or sale (trades don't have to be shoes). I'm a 9.5C/D and they slip a tiny bit. So, I'm guessing more of a size 10 or maybe 10.5.

Offered my body up to science today by enrolling in the Pfizer COVID vaccine trial. I had to do it in style with this slightly modified 92604s. Man, I miss wearing my shoes to work.

A pair of my Florsheim by McHale being rebuilt.

New cork, shank, JR sole, welt, cat paw heels, and toe taps.

This seems like a good looking all man-made material shoe. I wonder if it is Corfam. VCleat on rubber sole?

Maybe I should shell out $20 for science.

I just sold a pair of these. It's not really a v cleat. It's just molded plastic that mimics nails and a cleat.

This morning, while in London Ontario, I stopped at the site of the original John McHale factory which was located at the southeast corner of Bathurst and Richmond Street. It is now the parking lot for the boys and girls club. I brought along with me a very rare pair of pre-1955 John McHale oxfords. This is the only pair of this style that I have ever seen. There was a light rain falling while I took a few photos, or could it have been the tears of St Crispin.

How do I tell if a sole is cemented or has a hidden stitch?
First, you’re usually only going to see a closed channel or hidden stitch on an otherwise high quality shoe, which these are not. Second, if there were a hidden stitch, the thin layer of leather over the stitch will start to wear away, so you’ll usually see a little bit of the stitching at this level of wear.

I agree with @mormonopoly and also wonder why it would matter. Those are not quality shoes to start with (they may have been GY welt at one point), but they are cheap leather and they have had a replacement sole. If you are looking to purchase these, there are much better alternatives.

It is possible that a cobbler went to the trouble of stitching a new sole on after cutting a channel and hiding the stitch. But, that’s not particularly easy. Seems more likely given the quality of the shoe that the cobbler cemented on a replacement.

A very lucky pair, to make it back to its birthplace like a salmon swimming upstream.
