Yep, another new pair of shoes. Made in USA Dexters that are barely worn. Courtesy of @Paul902 . Because I needed another pair of LWBs.

My second pair of Dexter and the fit is spot on.

Well then, allow me to pontificate. I'm an expert from afar in my field which means I must use illustrations. Here is a view of the shoe and the yellow arrows are pointing to a few of the brogue holes.

Now, here is an illustration of the brogue hole viewed from the same basic angle as seen in the shoe. The outside, inside and thickness of the leather are labeled.

The inside wall of the brogue hole is marked with an X. This is the unfinished area of the leather and it can look orange-ish in color. Its the same color that you can see in these images of cracked shell.

You can see the clean brogue holes on this pair I lifted from vcleat.com. Notice that the holes are nice and bright in color in comparison to the external color of the shoe. Not really orange from this angle, but considerably brighter than the external color of the shoe.

I really love this thread!

2 new additions to the collection from this week. Photo is from in the store (I was excited to share them on the Thrift thread) ...

This my first time seeing a pair of Florsheims with that off-white/cream color interior. Any ideas about that?

Cheers!

Not sure if it was your intention to be anything other than instructional...but that was the hardest I laughed all day.
Both. Always try to be instructive and entertaining.

Doesn't say "Florsheim" to me, but those are interesting. I'd guess 40's/50's based on look and canvas lining. Both opinions are subject to much more informed folks here...

Hey guys,
I picked these up at a thrift today so I thought I’d share. Unsure of the maker but doesn’t the model# font look familiar? Im guessing buffalo hide Florsheim made for someone else without the “XX” mfg date.

They are Allen Edmonds “Pla-Skos” from the 1964 catalog. The color and leather is Briar-tan boarhide.

I had a little bit of thrifting stardust fall on me today. I stopped at the local Value Village and bought a pair of really ugly, worn at the heel, hand waxed finish Dack's tasseled loafers for $13.00. I regretted the purchase immediately. On my drive home I decided that I didn't want to waste the effort to clean them, so I stopped at the men's mission and donated them. To my surprise I was given a $10 off coupon so I wandered over to the tiny space where they keep a few men's shoes and found these NOS early 1970's McHale chestnut brown balmorals. I had the coupon for roughly 45 seconds.
