KLM to allow single travellers to view Facebook and LinkedIn profiles of people who they want to sit next to between Amsterdam and NYC, SF, and San Paolo. If successful will be expanded to include more cities.

1) book flight
2) facebook stalk all possible seat neighbors, choose hottest woman on flight
3) click and find out seat is taken in the time it took to refresh page, slam face on keyboard
4) repeat 100 times, give up and reserve seat next to smelly fat guy

I've flown on like, at least 100 flights in the past 10 years, maybe 25 in the past year alone - minus my wife, which was only a few times at that, I haven't been seated next to anything I'd want to tap with even my shoe. You'd think paying more would alleviate this but Business class is 100x worse, your odds are better in coach.
Of all recent flights I was on, I think the best case scenario was sitting next to some talkative Filipino American guy who just got kicked out of the Army for weed and was going back to the Philippines, and was down to buy one of my leather jackets. That, and I think I sat next to an ugly amateur Appreciation star who was in a 2-fer of a 767 with me next to 5 of her male keepers, and she slept the whole time because I guess her work was tiring.

I have terrible luck with my airplane seatmates--the absolute worst case being seated next to a guy who smelled so bad I put the eyemask thing over my nose but was still gagging for most of the flight from CDG to IAD.
