You need to mod the DC to play burned ISO's without a boot disk. And games from Japan. And etc.
You can convert most of the .ISOs to self-booting .cdi relatively easily. I spent quite a bit of time doing this with older releases. I guess the fact that my only two legit discs were Skies of Arcadia (omfg, awesome?) and Soul Calibur.. You can do whatever you want as you already have a modded DC. [IMG]

I am REALLY out of touch, video game wise.

If all I have is an XBOX, an N64, and a Mac, is there one game I can/should buy right now that I'll enjoy the hell out of? Or am I just stuck playing Mariokart and Goldeneye forever?

If your Mac has an intel processor, install Windows XP and then buy Team Fortress 2.

I have an old Powerbook G4 and I played Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction on it (which is old, but I played that game for almost 8 years) and now I play DotA, which is a custom map for Warcraft III. Basically, you can't go wrong with a Blizzard game.

GRAW 2 on the pc was just awful. It's not as bad as GRAW was, but it was still terrible. Clumsy controls, stupid gameplay that was neither realistic nor remotely enjoyable, and all the Tom Clancy Hoorah War Hardon story you can get. Vegas was beyond terrible. It's GRAW 2, only with and even worse engine, enemies that spawn behind you, and the gameplay of Counter-Strike.
With due respect, oh my shit you could not be more wrong. I haven't played GRAW 2 enough, but Rainbow Six Vegas was fantastic as far as strategic shooters go, and I daresay that the multiplayer was perfect. The controls were spot-on, the cover system was revolutionary (I know Gears came out first, but the cover was not implemented nearly as well). Every multiplayer map is very well-balanced, and there is not a skippable one in the bunch. It's set up so you have to use teamwork and communicate to win matches even when fighting lower ranks. The only complaint I ever had were that some weapons were unbalanced, but that's been fixed in subsequent updates. I really can't say enough good about this game. I can see not liking the story, but if you're playing a Tom Clancy game for story, you should know better.

I never played it online and I only played singleplayer briefly, so that does skew my experience a bit. I played GRAW 2 a fair amount more.

I'm putting together a new computer over the holidays and am waiting for the sales to come down the pike before picking up all the components. I already picked up the Orange Box, since I never played any of the Half Life games and was intrigued by an article I read on Portal, and will probably end up getting Crysis if the single player is worth a damn. Never been that into multiplayer gaming.

The game that I'm really looking into is The Witcher. Looks like a decent RPG style game for the PC.

When Wii Fit drops I'll finally take the plunge into the Nintendo deep end. Picking up Super Mario Galaxy next week at TRU with their big sale. Probably will end up picking up Zelda and Metroid if there is a good BF sale on them.

Anyone with a PS3, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune demo is now on PSN.. I played through it and it's really awesome. Pretty much what I expected combat-wise, but in terms of graphics and overall feeling it really exceeded my pre-conceived already-high notions.

I've been really skeptical about this, so that's heartening. I think the Vaseline-covered jungle and the horrible facial animations have been a big deterrent for me. The huge uncanny valley is my least favorite aspect of the new generation.

Anyone have feedback on EVE Online? My PowerBook is my MMO machine and EVE has just been released for Mac/Linux. I hear it's fantastic but I'm wondering how welcoming it is to new players and if anyone thinks it has legs.

Uncanny valley drives me nuts too, but the characters in Uncharted are animated incredibly well, and the facial expressions are, IMO, pretty damn good. Also, the jungle doesn't at all look vaseline-covered, at least not in the demo.

My buddies and i have been playing Ghost Recon on the PC and Macs for several years and are looking for a new(er) cross platform game that we can all play. It doesn't have to be some brand new game. We'd also like to find a game that has a similar playing style like GR where we can work as a team fighting the baddies.

We've heard Battlefield 1942 might be an option?

    Thanks.

Battlefield 2, I am stuck on a level. [IMG]
Black, Call of duty, and I am only 28% complete on Grand Turismo 4.

I will get a 80GB PS3 sometime this month along with a Samsung or Toshiba LCD.

I just played Portal. That might be the best fucking game I've ever played in my life. That is all.

Got the Orange Box yesterday, and it's fantastic. Episode Two is classic Half Life, better than Episode One, tried TF2 for a bit and love the style and balance, haven't even gotten to Portal yet and what I've heard so far about has me psyched. Valve has got to be the greatest developer of the last decade, hands down.

Orange Box is an amazing deal but I hate the fact that it's rated like other video games. It's a compilation of video games, most of which have already been released, yet its up for Game of the Year. Portal is awesome, amazingly awesome, but also short. [IMG]
