Viccel socks developed hole on first wearing

I bought several houndstooth socks from Viccel during their last sale. The color and texture look beautiful, and they soften into a nice cotton feel after first wearing.

My problem is I just wore one of them for the first time and one of them had a hole when I took off my shoes at the end of the day. I was wearing leather sneakers and was wondering if I hadn't tightened the laces on that foot, meaning the shoe was slightly loose and my foot was rubbing quite a bit against the insole. Doubt it though.

I've been a customer since they began offering socks on Styleforum around 2009 and did have issues where their original batch with thinner cotton did develop holes after several wears but I think they have improved the product a lot since then (and it was already good back then). But never had a sock develop a hole on first wearing.

Has anyone had this issue with Viccel before (I've seen references in old threads)?

I had it happen once. Ask them for a new pair or something; they might do it. But honestly, you should just darn the sock. It's relaxing and is a good skill to have.

The president of Viccel (Ahmet) wrote me to say they will send a new pair. I ordered a few more in their current sale. Guess it was a fluke. Their current houndstooth and candy stripe pairs are among the best cotton pairs I've seen available, and most socks (even by high end designer brands) with patterns are not pure cotton.
