The title of the thread should say "Vibram". Stupid autocorrect. I know they're ugly, but I'm going to look into Merrell and I was wondering if anyone has experience with these shoes. I am looking for something breathable, but my main concern is if they are good for standing all day and if the soles are slip resistant. Any help is appreciated.

Merrell makes a lot of different boots/shoes and Vibram a lot of different soles, so you'll need to get a lot more specific (say, make and model, and link) if you want to get any reasonably informed answer.

    Cheers,

I'm interested in the Moab Ventilator and the Jungle Moc. I don't want to get a full boot, since I'll need to have comfort while standing all day (I'm a barber). I do like a shoe that works well in Midwest weather too though. I assume the Ventilator will breathe better, but I wasn't sure about comfort and slip resistance. The description of the soles on the site just says Vibram, it doesn't give me a specific model for the sole.

If you are looking for something specifically for standing in all day, I would just get a pair of running shoes, and maybe put in an insert for comfort. They are more comfortable and more breathable, have more cushioning, and at the same time are much more lightweight. There is a reason that older American tourists are always wearing New Balances to walk around in in foreign cities. They are a bit more functional than most other shoes.

Yeah. I currently wear New Balance walking shoes, and usually had Asics. I'm ready for a new pair and figured I'd look elsewhere. Maybe I'll just get more walking shoes for work and look into the Merrell's for walking around outside, etc. Hopefully the soles are slip resistant. My Ecco boots are too slippery.
