This is an interesting idea, but note that we can't dye just the midsole. We'd have to do it like Guidis and dye the whole thing black, and the midsole would come out layered grey and black, most likely. We could have the midsole edgepainted, which might be more tractable.

Thanx. In that case, painting the edge is much more practical & less intrusive than piece-dyeing, I think ... don't really want to debase the finish of the leather.

Actually, I already experimented on the pit tanned Bison. 'Sanded the midsole to make it a bit more porous to take in the dye ... don't know how long the color will hold, tho ... since I don't really know much about leather process.

Feel free to add the SMBH to the list since it seems like a cool idea as well.

Alright. I'm going to look over these with a fine comb, and then schedule a call with Brett to see what he thinks!

Cheers,

Fok.

This was posted over on the Viberg thread:

40 leathers? Etc? Sure sounds interesting.
Interesting. First I've heard about this in a minute, but Freemans Sporting Club is sorta the grand central of that whole Americana thing during the heyday, so I guess that it's not "that" surprising that it would happen there. Wonder who is helping with the styling.

Hey Fok,

Hate to ask this but is there any possibility we could get a yes/no on the GTMO makeups before the "other" MTO ends? I'd much rather go through SF MTO, but I'd absolutely hate to miss out on my grail makeup if the SF MTO doesn't work out. There is almost zero chance my proposal of a horsebutt service boot on the 2045 last with a double leather sole would be made outside of MTO.

I'm definitely going to try. But the timetable is not 100% under my control. Maybe...50%. If it is coming down to the wire, I wouldn't want you to miss your favoriate make up because of me.

Cheers,

Fok.

Can we still propose new style?
Hi,

We are not accepting any new proposals right now. I guess that the only way that would happen is if you are someone who is willing to put down the money for the minimum 6 pairs, up front (it's happened once, with someone pledging to buy 10 pairs and carrying through, so while improbable, it's not impossible.)

Cheers,

Fok.

So, looks like at least 8 of the makeups are okay to vote on with very few changes. I'm going to be getting prices in the next few days, and then we can have a very short discussions and go to vote. I'm excited!
