Hi all,

It seems that we have a decent amount of interested in 3 makeups, and that the differences in opinion come in what lasts we should use. Accordingly, the choices are between lasts. Please only vote if you are planning to buy a pair. Prices will be up shortly, but should be between $700 and $750 for these makeups.

You only have one choice in this poll, unlike the first.

The poll will close this coming Sunday at midnight Please suggest edits to these makeups, and we'll see how your fellow members respond.

Cheers,

Fok.

A) Tan Bison Scout boot

Leather: Loden Green
Model: Service boot boot

D) Heather Grey roughout Chukka, 110 last
Leather: Heather grey roughout
Model: Chukka
Last: 110
Toecap: unstructured
Sole: Vibram 2060 sole, single natural leather midsole
Eyelets: 3 gunmetal eyelets

E) Heather Grey roughout Chukka, 2030 last
Leather: Heather grey roughout
Model: Chukka
Last: 2030
Toecap: unstructured
Sole: Vibram 2060 sole, single natural leather midsole
Eyelets: 3 gunmetal eyelets

Here are pictures that approximate the color of the leather. I say approximate because getting leather colors, especially near blacks, and greys, is really difficult to do:

Tan Bison:

Loden Green:

And for the heather grey roughout, I'm just going to use one of Guy's pictures of my boots, beause I can't get anything halfway representative:

The discussion of the various lasts are here: http://www.styleforum.net/t/224463/viberg-boots/1500_50#post_6537925

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Fok.

Wow! This is going to be tough to choose...Bison service boot or grey chukka on the 2030...

Any chance of putting a picture of the leather up with each description?

Well, I don't have a great picture of the loden, but I'll try for these three leathers in the next couple of days. Oh, right, and there is just enough heather grey leather for 4 pairs of chukkas.

Cheers,

Fok.

Everyone sold on the 110 last for the Bison boot? I was thinking the 2040 could look really good. My understanding is that the 2040 has a fuller toe box than the 2030 but not as rounded as the 110. The 2030 is the perfect last for me but I understand not everyone feels that way

I would really like to stick with the 110 for the bison boot for fit purposes

The bison boot is a special version of the boondocker. It's a specific look that I feel looks best on the wider, rounder, toe, of the 110 last. I think that the Boondocker is pretty perfect the way it is, for what it is. I really don't feel like messing with a winning set of specs.

I am 100% in agreement with Rydenfan. The Bison boot specs are perfect besides the last. My preference is the 2030 last but I think the 2040 last is a good middle ground that will accommodate those who want a fuller toe without being overly bulbous. So, for now, there are no make-ups that I am interested. However, if another option is added that is instead on the 2040 last (similar to the others each having a pair of options), then I am definitely in.

I'm personally not sold on this at all, but if we get enough votes on the 110 last (which is seems like there are,) I will consider the same boot in a slightly different iteration, since the demand seems to be there. I'd be happy to make you guys happy.

Is that heather grey roughout the one you got on your boots? Is it the same from the grey sample you posted earlier?

I'm pretty much set on getting a chukka either from here (if it gets made) or directly MTO.

Curious about the eyelets though, I'm seen a lot of their chukka models and they all had blind eyelets, think we could go that way? Something just looks a little off when I picture it with the eyelets.

Looks like I can't adjust the poll. Um... lessee. How about we get a show of hands for anyone who did not vote yet, for the Bison boot in the 2030 last? It will be theme and variation. We need 4 hands to make this go forward.

Cheers,

Fok.

Yes, it's the same leather as on my boots. I have seen chukkas both ways. Defnitely, for a chukka on a slim last, like Church's Ryder, I would definitely advise blind eyelets. However, for a chunkier boot, both can look good. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of things about this boot, but I think that it illustrates how metal eyelets can look good. I can see this makeup either way. On the service boot, however, imo, the eyelets look great with that leather.

The Chukka on the 2030 is a silly idea imho.

I've had an Oxford on the 2030 and it looked really odd. On a service boot the last looks well balanced but was getting into winklepicker territory on the Oxford. Pretty sure their usually made on the 110 which works perfectly with the proportions of a chukka and Oxford.

Any way, that's just like my opinion.
