Those boots are certainly...something. I guess I applaud their boldness but I’m looking forward to their next “normal” shell service boot drop.

I agree, definitely still interested in a "normal" shell from Viberg.

But for me, I wouldn't purchase this shell offering from Alden, C&J, Carmina, etc. I think Carmina offers this color shell or something similar but I wouldn't be interested in this color in their style offerings.

I just ordered the Viberg x 3sixteen Charcoal Chamois Gloxi-Cut Scout Boot.

1290274

This'll be my first chamois boot. It looks like a combination of roughout and smooth charcoal chamois. As I understand it, this type of hide has a very high oil content, and is quite water resistant. Does anyone with experience with this type of leather have any recommendations as to its care? Should I just leave it alone? Should I use Saphir Renovateur Spray and/or Saphir Invulner waterproofing sprays on it?

Thanks in advance for sharing your chamois experience and expertise with me.

@nishant, thanks for the quick reply!

Keep in mind I live in the midwest, with ample rain, snow, slush, salt...

I do keep a clean microfiber terry towel in my backpack at all times, to pat down my boots and/or bags when they get wet.

With that in mind, does your advice remain unchanged?

Just Beat It ^^^ Beat it good. No TLC needed. None at all actually ..

Cleaning with towel to keep the nep dry is acceptable I guess .. I simply have never treated the uppers with anything.

seconding “no care needed”. I have smooth and rough out chamois. I just very lightly brush them to remove any dirt etc.

These recent posts have made me revisit the charcoal scout from 3sixteen; being that I have the navy latigo scout, I was leaning towards the withered fig bobcat. Going to have to pull trigger soon on bobcat as sizes are dwindling.

$1345 for the new Mahogany Shell Vibergs and they look like this on the inside after a few weeks of wear. What a ****** product. I have 14 pairs of Aldens and I have never had workmanship fall apart like this. Is this normal? Do they just not know how to make boots with a Goodyear welt up there in Canada?
