Some questions for anyone who might know…

- Anyone know how makes the brown oiled calf? CF Stead?

It looks to be the same as the DR shoe https://divisionroadinc.com/products/viberg-derby-shoe-2030-vibram-2060-brown-oiled-calf

- Anyone know how the Italian horsebutt compares to what Horween produces?
the black, brown and grey are unlined. Is it super thick? I have the DR Brown Peaky Blinders and they’re lined. Thick but still good.

- Anyone know how Kudu suede (reverse kudu) ages? How does the nap hold up, darken, etc…

thank you in advance!

Oiled calf is CF stead.
The Italian stuff is veg tanned, and in my experience creases less aggressively and loosely than the horween stuff can. The horween stuff is super super thick. They often line that stuff too, I forget the reason why but they said it's often necessary for a structural reason.

Can't help with reverse kudu in terms of ageing. It looks great though, the naps shorter than roughout it's got a suede-y look/feel to it.

New pair of snuff calf suede chelseas on a gloxi-cut vibram sole from the recent East + West sale that was happening. Went TTS since I've had no luck with the slimmer Viberg lasts (this one is interestingly enough the labelled as the 41464 last instead of the 2050 - maybe someone else is more knowledgeable about the use of different naming?) and they fit pretty perfectly with thick socks. Interested in seeing how they change fit-wise once they mold a bit more to my feet, but I must say they're extremely comfy with the gloxi-cut vibram sole.

@IronRiceBowl Had you not taken my size ;) I'd have jumped all over them (great price) even though I was unsure of that sole on a chelsea. They look pretty sweet. I'm still wanting to try that sole, but hopefully on a service boot first.

Sorry friend :( Yeah, I think the stock photos that Viberg takes of their chunkier soles does them a disservice - the gloxi-cut and even the sneakers from what I've seen look much much better on foot than they do on their own without scaling. I've been keen on getting a pair with the gloxi-cut ever since I missed out on the Division Road grey calicos that had them

That is the Chelsea/jodhpurs/sidezip last. It’s only called 2050 in conversation but always labelled 41464.

Justsayno you have the Viberg x Himel engineers?

I've wanted a pair for a long while but can't find a size 10. How do you like yours? How does 2005 last compare to 2030 in your experience?

Yes I have the Himel Engineers. The crust horse butt uppers are thick, and purposefully left unfinished. When I first got them they look raw. But it darkened quickly after a couple of wears and now sports a medium caramel shade. It’s a charming boot. But there are downsides. It doesn’t have the same triple stitching on uppers like a Wesco boot, and one of the ankle straps are made from noticeably thinner leather.

In the same size, the 2005 is shorter in length compared to the 2030 but it is also wider and fuller in the instep.

I sized up a half size from my 2030 size. But even then, my big toe will experience pressure points from wearing the boots in thick wool socks.

Good to know. I need 10 on the 2030 to accommodate wide feet but have a lot of extra room in length. Sounds like the 2005 might be a good last for me in that size. I can afford to lose some length anyway.

I would agree. The comparative sizing from 2030 needs to also consider how the 2030 was sized. In my case, i sized 1 whole size down Brannock to achieve a tight fit on the 2030. So my 2005 size is half size down Brannock.

I've never tried a 2030 lasted engineer but I could imagine it might be more difficult to get on given the instep relative to the 2005 last
