Like the idea of the Mahogany shell & the change in offering for:

Storm GY welt
Derby boot
Ridgeway sole

Just wish the last offered was a dressier almond shaped one. Their addition of French binding and brass eyes just doesn’t carry well what the Service Boot or Derby Boot tells of the brand.

-Derby’s pattern is more dressy over the Service boot.
-Storm welt is more casual over a flat welt.
-GYW is more refined over the stitchdown

Imagine a 270 closed heel, Good year flat welt, small brass eye, French binding, and flat laces on an almond shaped last.
Wouldn’t that just be another Alden or C&J ?

Seems that’s where the offerings are trending to anyhow...food for thought
They went back to producing 9 eyelet boots after a little hiatus and no longer produce awesome 10 eyelet boots (not even MTO), which really made them stand out. They can only use small eyelets for 9 eyelet boots; in terms of style, C&J and Alden will always be dressier but the Viberg lasts just fit perfect, so that’ll always factor into my decision making.

Second wearing of my DR Mocha Shelby.
Definitely much more soft/spongy and comfortable than I thought they’d be.

Showing a little lighter than they really are here.

Friday’s mahogany release should be almost identical in profile.

Is Viberg only going to do Brogue Toe Caps from now on?
Good question. I strongly prefer plain toe Vibergs.

All of the recent cap toe boots offered by .com, DR, et al. are making it easy for me to pass on otherwise good make ups.

My mocha horsebutt Vibergs from DR are straight cap toe. I don’t see why they would stop offering that.

Im sure they will be offering all variations to appeal to a broader group and encourage people to buy multiple pairs of near identical boots a la Alden.

Personally I think the brogue cap with the pinking is the way to go and the brogue cap as next best. Plain captoe might as well be plain toe.

Fellow Viberg owners: I noticed several what appear to be nail-heads exposed in the soles of my new boots (in both boots): is this normal?

Normal, is in all of mine, if it's not uneven with the bed or catching on socks its all good
Thanks, @Meelypops - they don't stick up at all; they feel flush with the footbed. I appreciate the reassurance - this is my first pair of Vibergs, and they're so nice, I'd hate to have to send them back.
