They were not. Shell is not a struck through leather, so the color does not penetrate all the way through.

Oh you meant the edge of the leather. I thought you meant the sole edge.

Just got DR 2040 chukka in.

My first unlined Viberg. It's really just the back upper that is unlined. The vamp and heel are still lined.

Got the DR Mocha Shelby

Can’t tell if the shell is thinner or the liner is but definitely more flex than a regular pair of Viberg cordovan shoes.

I think they look great and the pinking and brogueing are not as pronounced as in the original photos.

The welt is the same ridged pseudo storm welt that trickers uses (the name is escaping me).

Surprised that they used the black Ridgeway soles instead of brown. The natural camel also use black.

Overall really nice.

Added a couple more photos.

These are so nice. Thought you said you were all shelled out though? ;)

Overall really happy with them! The toe spring is not that pronounced, and I went and colored the edges black.

Really great makeup. Good call on blacking out the edges too.

BTW, I wasn’t hating on the sneakers yesterday. Have the grey horsehide sneakers and think they are great. I’d be too worried about ruining the leather in the dirt though since they are way too expensive to be a beater pair.
