I've gone the opposite direction of what most people seem to suggest lately and have gone from a half down to a full size down. I find half down to be a bit of a sloppy fit. As Crizzle noted a few posts above, I can wear either size and adjust with socks but prefer the full size down and my feet are by no means low volume or narrow and HTT and HTB are consistent.

Viberg’s lasts are generally wider than other manufacturers’ standard width, so not surprising that the sizing is messy.
Can you give some examples? This is a very broad generalization given Viberg and other manufacturers have many different lasts

Everything except 2020 and 2050. So folks with average-to-narrow feet have to choose whether to optimize for volume or ball alignment.

Thanks for the sizing advice. I do have to say with the new width variable 2030 I find a 2030 in 9.5EE perfect for my 10.5D brannock. I’m glad withered fig is doing makeups with it. Slightly more toe room than a 1035 in the same size but a little more length, which I prefer as the 1035 is shorter in general. It also looks more sleek than the 1035 in the toe.

Most manufacturers only have 1 or 2 narrow lasts. I don't find that odd. I don't think Viberg's width determinations equal brannock widths

2030, 2040, 310, 1035 are equivalent to a US E brannock width at the ball.

2020 and 2050 are D or D/E at the ball.

110 is a EE/EEE at the ball.

2045/2055 is an EE at the ball.

It gets confusing, because I don't want to call Viberg's widths equivalent to US brannock widths, because for Viberg E is standard, but the standard E width is also close to US letters. Viberg also has a lot of lasts and widths that they just don't use (not counting all the workboot lasts). 310D and 2005D have been around for a while but are rare/mto.

Plus, most of the wide lasts (save 2040) are roomy at the instep.

Where's Bonbon?
This is Leo, he's Bonbon's baby brother. And he's a menace to society and the world at large. He's been destroying all the cat toys and he's too rough when he plays with Bonbon.
