Your 1071is the TPR version? I personally don’t like the TPR finish. I understand that it’s thin, but it’s still a plastic resin finish. It also looks like the TPR flakes off from the photos I have seen. I prefer the more traditional finishing method. But, all of that is just my own personal preference. Lol.

Bobcat Boot in Maryam Brown Horsebutt from Withered Fig...a truly "muddy brown" colour.
Still prefer hooks over the top 3-4 eyelets. These are a pain to get on and off and I have to remove the laces from the top eyelet completely.

Thanks! Yes I have conditioned them once with Saphir Renovateur. I like the current colour and to prevent them darkening further (except naturally) I will be using only Bick 4 going forward.

Someone I think here asked for Muschio next to Port1071. Here is port, muschio, comipel, and mocha shell from left to right (or top down.)

Thanks for the picture. Looking at the muschio next to the brown comipel they also share close similarities. Muschio is a much more interesting brown than I presumed. Have any of them been conditioned? Excluding the mocha shell.

Maryam Toscanello TPR Horsebutt...you can see the TPR coating coming off on the tongue under the laces of the right boot.

2) the TPR coating is a really light coating that just wears off over time. It's Maryam's most popular HB currently. Its not like corrected grain plastic/bookbinder coating if that's what you're thinking. Its thin enough where you can condition it and the boots still patina. It comes off really easily honestly.

never read CXL to be scratch resistant. quite the opposite as it ages quickly.

Expecting CXL not to scratch is like expecting snow not to melt in hell. If you look at CXL funny it will scratch.

CXL is known to scratch very easily. It seems to be a characteristic that people like as it ages quickly and shows patina. Sounds like that wasn’t what you were looking for which I’m sure is disappointing but that “damage” all looks very normal.
