I done did it

You’re right. You did done do it. Looks great. Honestly this is making me consider swapping out my soles on my DR waxed flesh bobcats for something sleeker. If you don’t mind answering about how much does this run you? Feel free to pm if you’d prefer that

I love the way that turned out, @smartbrother! I'm strongly considering converting my pair, too, after seeing yours.

Do you know of any sole that (in terms of color) would present similar to yours from the side, but with more grip for snowy conditions (which a CXL/waxed flesh combo is otherwise perfect for)?

In short, I'd like to look into re-soling my pair into a snow-friendly version of the look you've achieved.

(If anyone else has sole suggestions, please post them.)
I photoshopped a commando on them (which I posed a few pages back). Here it is again.

Thanks @Squizzy3k. I remember when you posted that and thought it might be where I'd eventually go. Seeing the less contrasty side look of @smartbrother's sole, I think I'd like to move in that direction but with something at least a bit more grippy/textured for when the snow comes (and where I live the snow inevitably comes).

Perhaps a brown Vibram 430?

I think the brown 430 will serve your purposes well, if you can find one. It might be a Red Wing exclusive because it’s not listed in Vibram’s catalog ??‍♂️

Niiiiiiice other than the 2020 last not sure why more people are not into the amarettos. They have the shade that I would want after a year or two of aging on a natural shell, but without the wait!

Speed hooks are the other reason (for me).

Wishing I had just bought a 2020 pair of something for the purposes of sizing, 12 would be safe but it’s such a gamble.

Honestly, at this price point Viberg should just offer people the choice of 2020 or 2030 for shell preorders using one of those two lasts. I'd think they'd probably have sold more 2030 Amaretto service boots than those derbies they also offered.

I thought a little more about this actually. Aside from the obvious logistical challenges and f***ups that would ensue, I imagine it would also water down the hype/collectibility of each release. But really the most likely reason that it will never happen is just 'because'.

It's a total fool's errand, but the more I tried to ignore the amarettos the more I wanted them. I even color-balanced the official pics in Photoshop to get a better idea of their real color and I couldn't escape their resemblance, in pics at least, to the brandy shells that hooked me into all this bullshit circa 2013.

Those damn things have haunted me for years now, I know I'll never own a pair and I'm hoping the amarettos will be a viable consolation prize. And if they're not, I'll be telling myself they are and I'm a gullible dude so I'll believe it.

As far as the 2020 goes, that's the other huge dice roll and I agonized over it. I'm a super comfortable but very snug 2030 size 10 in my CXL and latigo boots, and it did not seem smart to go with the same size in a narrower last so I went a half size up.

I figure I can rock a thicker sock if they are loose, but I can't add room to a too-small boot. So fingers crossed.
