Hey guys! I never really took care of my vibergs. I have a pair of “black dust calf” derbies and a pair of “aged bark rough out” service boots. Both have been worn more than or around a year each. I never treated either with a protectant, and never polished, and never brushed.

what I’m asking is what products should I use on my:
Dust black calf derbies (what polish should I get?, should I spray it with a water protectant?)

aged bark rough out service boots (what suede protectant should I use?)

also, I am getting a pair of sand suede stallion vibergs in a couple days and want to treat them right before I even wear them. I’m assuming I should spray them and use some sort of suede protectant?

sorry for the million dumb questions!

Don't put product on roughout, just brush it occasionally

So I don’t even need to use a suede protector?

I wouldn't. Roughout isn't suede, not really. I also think trying to keep a roughout service boot pristine-looking is a little at odds with the character of the thing, but that's an aesthetic opinion.

Not really. Bourbon is supposed to be that dark, Brandy has more red. Looks like other makeups from other companies.
The picture Viberg posted looks noticeably darker than all of the bourbon shell pictures I’ve seen. The reason I’ve never tried to get a pair is that I find the actual shade of bourbon they come out with to be too light for my taste.

I feel like shell is so inconsistent that it doesn't really matter to try and think about what color it'll be. If you're okay with any shade from Natural to Brown, you'll be in good shape. Hopefully they do a good job matching each panel though.

Especially after some wear and sun. All the excitement over the various shades of medium to light brown leaves me scratching my head.

Agree .. rugged aesthetic doesn’t suit 2030 much.
That's a good point - rugged materials should be matched with rugged lasts and refined leathers (like calf, deer and others) look better on more elegant/slim lasts like the 2030 or 2020.
