This sounds great. I don't think Viberg has ever done RO horse so this would be two firsts in one boot (RO horse and side zip). I'd prefer something tougher than a leather sole but willing to compromise if it means this gets made.

    +1

Needs a name, how about the Angeleno? Something about the style reminds me of LA.

If we can get a black rough out Chelsea then I'm in on the black leather sole/dovetail heel

+1 - I'm in for this one. Black R/0 Chelsea, leather sole for sure

I would likely jump on this. Would prefer the horsehide with the regular side out. But might consider a RO.

One other thought - it looks like the millwright boot with crust CXL has a lot of support, and the echo boot uses crust CXL as well. What if we did all the boots in this round as variations on crust CXL? Something like:

    CXL smooth out millwright boot
    CXL rough out side zip
CXL stacked ripple boot (dyed white)

This would showcase all the different ways one leather can work (refined, rugged, street) and because it's a natural leather we'd end up with a bunch of boots aged in interesting ways - like a viberg version of those denim fading contests Japanese brands do. It's also a leather that's unique to Viberg at the moment.

I don't think I've ever seen a burgundy rough out boot before.

    Carry on.

    Black midsole w/ flat welt
    GYW construction
    Dovetail heel

If anyone wants to get a bit more adventurous with sole choices, from left to right:

    • Vibram Optitank.
    • Vibram Friedrich.
    • Vibram Acqua in Ecostep.
    • Vibram Scooter.
    • Vibram Flat.

This is what the Optitank looks like in profile on a Walk-Over Poe.

I'm thinking that a less dressy take on the Side Zip could be fun.

    The Slightly More Rugged Boot

    Side Zip Boot
    1035 Last
    Seal Brown Tumbled Horsehide
    Natural Midsole
Vibram Mini Lug Sole in brown

The 1035 last would give it a more rounded toe than the 2050, and hence less of a city boot look.

The seal brown horsehide looks as though it's a spray finish. That's how the colour was applied to A2 jackets in depot repairs, and it means it should rub off with wear. This is how I'd expect it to age.

This is the outsole. The lugs would be hidden from view from most angles.

And the boots would look something like this, but slightly darker in shade.

I figured that was probably the case. I only proposed the 1035 because I don't get on with the 2030, and I believe that the 2050 is a close cousin.

As we get closer to a voting, I made a few adjustments to my thoughts on the Fancy Dress Goth Ninja - went more dress casual and less goth ninja. I see this as a very versatile and extremely traditional style that can be worn in many of life's scenarios, while I like many of the proposals from the last couple of days, I doubt i would get much use out of a very light brown side zip boot, and black would fill an immediate need. I included a few pics hopefully to give a flavor of what I think the final product would look like, and below is the description. I know @Aviv and @winston86dit expressed interest previously. If anyone else is interested please chime in so we can get this thing to a vote. Cheers

    Side Zip Chelsea Boot
    Black Horsehide (grain side)
    Leather Sole
Antique Brown Edge (See the mock up of the RM Williams Chelsea for how this should look, I could be fine with black too)
    Black Zipper
    Tonal Stitching
    GYW - Flat

After much thought and soul searching and staring at my skinny ankles I have decided to stick with the side zip crew. Sorry to the 310 guys @linafelt but I will have to bow out. It sounds like you have enough people though!
