I would be in for this "sneaker boot" plus another service boot in something like Iced Mocca CXL, depending on last, sole, etc.

Here is a makeup I have been kicking around

    style: 1950 Service Boot
leather: Horween #8 CXL, Iced Mocca CXL or Brown Horsehide
toe cap: Baroque Toe Cap (maybe straight but probably not)
    last: 2130 Last
    sole: Dainite Sole
    midsole: Single Natural
    hardware: Brass Eyelets

There is a pictoral earlier in this thread, but the way the different pieces fit together is different. To a casual onlooker, they are cosmetically quite similar. Check out the two pictures below, and see how the heel counter on the Scout boot is longer, and how the front overlaps the heel counter. Also, check out the semi closed lacing, as opposed to the more traditional, blucher-style, construction of the Service boot. I also had a bunch of different stuff done on the MTO, so I decided that the actual boot design should be kept a little more traditional. There may be other differences that are not apparent to the eye. But if you are looking at the boot, these are the differences that you will see.

Huh. That seems cool. I'm trying to picture it. Incidentally, if anyone is good at photoshop, and wants to do some piecework when we are doing the mockups for different MTO possibilities, email me at [email protected]

It's very interesting to see what models will be proposed. I would be most interested in oxfords/service boots with lift round toe box.

Was thinking of ordering a pair similar to these service boots in the photo below when the weather gets cooler, and it would be great if there is a version that's kind of special.

Oxfords, chukkas, and boots, are all on the table. We built our little Styleforummarket (www.styleforummarket.com) to respond to the needs of this community, and the MTO program will be run on the forum. As long as we can get actual buy-in from a very small number of people, we can bring these things to you. It's going to be as simple as that (i.e. we will do the logistics for you guys.)

Cheers, and good night for now.

    Fok.

    Gentlemen,

I propose we construct two shoes (models from the Sample sale).

    80. Chukka, No.8 Cordovan, Tan Lining, Dainite Sole/Heel, 2030 Last, No Box Toe.
    111. Service Boot Hand Cut Sample Pattern, Mahogany Shell Cordovan, Fully Lined, Brogue Toe Cap, Dainite Sole, 2030 Last, No Box Toe.

Cordovan (#8, Cigar, whiskey, etc.) or Natural Chromexcel for both models.
The thought of contrasting leathers, an outlandish thick, or colored sole (orange, blue, purple) is unappealing.

I would love to hear suggestions.

I would love a plain toe boot in that pattern or the 50s service or the scout in shell although I think shell would be pretty tough unless they already have it as Horween is backordered til 2014. Horsehide may be a better bet

i actually think anything handcut AND in cordovan would be crazy expensive -- even if the MTO fee is waved. were talking about $1K easy. and if thats the case, wed be hard pressed to come up with numbers.

    Im all for cordovan though.

Heres what im suggesting -- An all whiskey version of the pebble grain service boot currently available at Viberg in all black.

there is a whiskey with a smoothed out cordovan on the toe and counter available as well, but its not as nice as the all pebble grained version. this is also not a new idea... there was a sample made for the Berlin show last year, and its the one i contacted Guy about during the sample sale. Thing is Brett Viberg himself kept that pair- he posts enough photos of them all the time on ig.

Now does he want to share the look? i wouldnt. lol. but we should give it a shot.

    see below

A big plus here is that they probably have stock for this gorgeous leather.

Although my preference is a smooth cordovan on the 2030 Last, I would purchase the full whiskey pebble grain if made available.
    Great idea!

Hey Fok, clue me in on why your MTO service boot is considered a "sneaker boot"?
