The Mr Porter natural CXLs look pretty good.

Slighly off topic, but if it weren't for the fabric on the heels, I'd be very tempted by those Visvim mid cut boots that Mr Porter offers:

What can be done to minimize creasing in CXL?

How the hell did it get so popular, anyway. It doesn't exactly seem like optimal stuff.

Yes they are. And, on that note, seems like Mr.Porter is going to go to price war with everyone. Every single one of those boots is priced lower than any of the regular stockists, and they have the volume to do free shipping (the get 90% off the UPS rates you and I would pay). Luckily for us, we don't give a fuck. So, I'll be refunding every single natural CXL order we took (well, I need to see that the makeups are the same, and that there are not upcharges on our end or theirs) shipped in the CONUS, $20, to match Mr. Porter prices. That's just how we roll. Hopefully, I will get to that later today.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

Send them an email if you want a stock offering. They will make it for you so you don't have to wait for the next general batch run.

The rapid evolution of CXL is generally seen as an advantage - you get a really gorgeous patina in a few months of wear. If you want a leather that doesn't patina, there are plenty out there. Just be prepared for friends to ask "are those boots new?" for a few years :D

^^ Though some folks do distinguish between the sort of "loose grain" that appears to be prevalent on the cheaper CXL and the expected patina that will develop on any CXL. Alden and OSB regularly are criticized for loose grain, whereas it seems much less of a problem with White's or Viberg. Though it does seem to occur on Vibergs as well, including I would say the pic above.

Picked up the oxbloods. Really hoping this is nice rich color and not closer to the clownish color 8 I previously received. Also like that it's not on dainite. Looks like Mr Porter only ordered whole sizes?

I may end up doing that. Was hoping to be able to order them from someone in the US to get free shipping and an easier return/exchange process if need be. I've never seen any Vibergs in person and hate making large purchases with international shipping. Do any of the US stockists ever carry the stock Brown cxl captoe service boot?
