Got my derbies today. Left shoe has the same issue with lopsided eyelets. Right shoe is fine. The shoes are pretty damn awesome otherwise, so not sure I'll pursue any correction as the idea of waiting longer to wear them is unappealing. Must say its kinda disappointing considering the price point...maybe some growing pains with a relatively new model? Who knows.

Indeed disappointing! With so many years of shoes making experience, such thing should not happen. Even if it's a manufacturing fault, it should not get past the QC department & shipped to customer.

It's the curse of wings+horns. No Canadian bootmaker can work with them without quality tanking for their other offerings. The collab boot will be perfect, but nothing else from Viberg, not ever again.

Is that piece of leather called a "facing" or a "quarter"?

#flapgate sounds so much better than the more technical #facinggate.

Anyone with this issue should email Guy and also [email protected], and we'll get things fixed.

The reason that this has happened in at least two cases is that the derby is their first model where they need to fold over the leather (as opposed to cutting it straight across, as is the case for the boots, for example). In the one case that has been brought on our attention, the issue probably arose from too much leather being folded over, with the result being holes being punched in an incorrect place. Although some inconsistencies do naturally occur on handlasted shoes made from really thick leather, obviously there should not be such a big, visible, problem, and we'll address them.

In at least one case, Guy is talking to the factory floor, and determining whether the shoe should be sent back to be fixed, or whether a new shoe needs to be made for that pair. Viberg stands by its products, and anything with the Styleforum stamp on it, so do we.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

    1. STFU, since it's obvious that you are being a dick just for the sake of being a dick. If you have any actual evidence that Viberg doesn't stand behind their product, and that Styleforum leaves our members who have done a GMTO with us in the wind because of a mistake on our part, then start talking again.
    2. Yes, times have changed. They've introduced a brand new model that requires techniques different from the techniques they've traditionally used to construct their work boots. They (and we) are working things out.
