This MTO was to recreate the derby below (that was supposed to be a production shoe in March 2014 according to Guy), which is very slim/sleek to my eye.

Curious, how is the 2030 last heel cup compared to the Barrie last heel? Barrie last heel always seems a little on the large side for me.

I hear ya, wishing for a sleeker look as well, but maybe it's the angle the pic was taken. I'm assuming you've seen this angle? I think the bulge is a bit more evident here:

Wow congrats to everyone! Those boots and shoes are amazing. I need to stay away from this thread as more pics roll in haha

I think you nailed it. The CXL is not as sleek as my service boot in latigo and it also fits looser. Disappointing since I was after the slimmer look.

I don't see the bulge in this pic either. I think jp2k1 figured it out... the CXL is a thicker leather.

Never mind what I said. My fault. I misunderstood what you were saying from your original post. Couldn't see from my phone that you actually circled the part in question.

General question: if I were to purchase some Vibergs that had been resoled with a Vibram sole, is it possible to take them to a cobbler and have them restored to the normal sole style?

I remember reading somewhere on some this thread or some Viberg thread that it was some regular calf leather that they waxed. In any case, I prefer the CXL anyway. Slightly meaty doesnt bother me either since its more understated and versatile this way- shorts, pants, jeans, etc...

Those derbies look really awesome and I'm not really a shoe guy. You guys must be terribly pleased (other than the eyelet issue).

@rydenfan, those kudu boots are incredible, shown especially in that last pic. Congrats!

Those derbies look super. I'd like to point out though that the left and right lace pieces don't match in a lot of the pairs from the gmto. Not sure what's up with that.

I have a pair of AE seconds with the same issue and it bugs me. I can live with it for the price, however.
