ah i see, thanks for the info!
does anyone have any personal experience with commando soles?
Yes, I have had quite a bit, and personally I'm moving away from them. They track too much mud and I'm always digging stones out. I prefer Dainite or Ridgeway. I'm having my new Viberg 145 Oxford made with the Vibram 1743 Bologna Gumlite sole.

Will there be a round 4 of the sample sale? I am debating on waiting or going ahead and requesting a custom boot to be made.
There wil be at least 5 rounds in total. At this point most of what is left is within the Size 8-9 range. I definitely wouldn't count on finding exactly what you are looking for, but there are some great pairs coming up from our last trade show in Berlin. I'm aiming for round 4 on Monday, but i'll confirm that at some point this weekend.
Damit, I gotta stop following this thread, making me buy shoes I can't really afford...
Yeah, me too - the only saving grace if that these shoes/boots will last for years...
btw. gentlemen...if anyone is interested in these (size 9) pm me! ...GONE!
IHxViberg Scout Boot
Whoever got #32, the Tan Service Boot on the 110 last in 9.5, I'd be interested in hearing how you found the fit and feel of that last in that size, compared with other boots you've worn. Thinking of that same build for a future boot... Thanks!
I am eyeballing the cordovan service boot for quite some time now and tried size 8.5 which fit perfectly.
Although it has been discussed here many times I am very insecure about the different lasts.
Is there an overview, how any of the (through viberg used) lasts is shaped?
Can I measure my feet and judge it from there?
I would love to take part in the next sample sale round, but need to know more about that.
Thanks a lot!
Jumping off this - can someone here re-post that link to the Viberg lasts? Thanks...
I believe that you can make a tracing of your feet and send it to Viberg and they will advise you on sizing. However, I have never done that myself. I just think I remember reading that stated somewhere (but I may be imaging it).
Although I am sure that the sizing advice on the board is overall close, It does seem like there might be some significant variance based on foot shape or something. Based on advice comparing to Alden and Red Wing sizing, I would have thought I was a 8.5 or maybe a 9.0 in the 2030, but I took a chance on the #8 cordovan service boot in 9.5 from the sample sale and it fits me really well (I might be able to make 9.0 work, too, but I seriously doubt 8.5 would have). Btw, it is just about the most amazing boot ever. Viberg hooked me with this sale.
So you're the lucky guy! As much as I like my ice mocha service boots, I really think the 2 shell boots were the highlights of this sample sale.
here you go @ zola:
