Mocha Oil Tan Roughout Service Boot

This is the 5th time I've worn them and I took this pic after spending hours clearing brush and invasive plants during a company outing. On the boat a co-worker said "your boots are beautiful, you're going to ruin them!" on the ride back another said "they look awesome and like nothing happened to them"

Can't believe how well built and comfortable Vibergs are.

With a black sole, they would have looked completely different. It would have been a high contrast look, as opposed to the tonal look. It's a matter of taste. Some people prefer the look of the stark black and white Ann Demeulemeester kicks. I liked the dusty rose ones from this summer, with a thin beige sole, or the gradient ones. These boots could have gone either way. They went the way they did because of my personal taste - and these boots are highly idiosyncratic. I have a closetful of sneakers in varying grey tones with white soles, and this is a variation on those, but in a boot form.

With respect to the contrast, you are right. Your boots would have had a high contrast with black soles. I also have many shoes with white or beige soles as I love a comfort of Vibram christy, 2021 or Red Wing soles. However, as I get older, I feel like wearing shoes with darker outsoles for some reason. To give up those comfortable outsoles is quite difficult for me as I sometimes do physical task at my work. I often wonder why many shoes are not made on darker Vibram outsoles to reduce a little contrast against upper body colour. I've seen black or blown 2021 soles though, not with christy soles yet. Long story short, I simply wanted to see your boots on a little darker Vibram soles. Nevertheless, your boots are outstanding!

I think that a lot of those shoes are meant also to emulate sneakers - especially, say, laceups on wedge soles.

    Repost from the MTO thread:

I just wanted to post the 2030, 2040, and 110 lasts. Unless you are really familiar with footwear, it's sorta like trying to guess what a person is going to look like based purely on their skeleton, but you can at least get an idea.

I have not seen a shoe on the 2040 last in person, but from Guy's description, it is like the 2040, but a bit more ergonomic. The 110 last, as you can see, is considerably more rounded and not elongated, and has considerably more room through the midfoot and the toe. It's a much more "traditional" last. In terms of width, iirc, 2030 is the narrowest last, and 110 is the widest.

i'm fitting 6 on Tricker's cuz i got wide feet & barely able to fit in a 2005 last.
so, what's the main difference between the 2040 & 2045, as compared to the 2005? does it have more room up front than 2005?

edit: i'm seriously contemplating on another Viberg soft-toe w/different leather make-up/config... maybe something with a bit of texture [like photo below]

... but in reverse combo ... ie, pebble or scotch grain shaft w/smooth vamp & backstay [as below]__ in brown HH or #8 burgundy, or even natural CXL.

Wish there was a try on program like Rancourt has :( Having commitment issues without knowing fit and size. Any major stores carry these? Barneys I think or online only?

Barney's, I think. You can submit a foot tracing, and they can tell guesstimate a size for you. If anyone wants to try on the 2030 in a 10UK, I can lend you my pair, as long as you pay shipping both ways (and remember that it is in nubuck, which is pretty unyielding).

Wow! Can't believe you'd offer that, would think you'd want to wear immediately. I'll stop by the local-ish barney first, but if they don't have any may take you up on that. Been meaning to pm about belt recs anyways :)

I think is saw a mention of a natural shell cordovan service boot for a Germany company called 10 oz. Anyone else heard of it? I'd love to see pics. Didn't even know natural shell existed.

Do you mean 14 oz? If so yes, I think they arrive September in the store. It's a shop in Berlin.

edit: here's the only pic I could find btw
