Dear all - how many sizes too big do you think my natty CXL Hiker's are ? I am usually between UK8.5 and 9 in other brands, so i went for a 9 in the Hiker's given i'm likely to be wearing thick (potentially double) hiking socks... but 90mi into the West Highland Way and i'm not enjoying the experience. Plenty of little stones coming in, no matter how tightly i tie, plus i have nasty blister on the top of my second toe as the leather folds in and brushes against it, along with a swollen inner ankle bone. While i thought i had broken them in, i clearly hadn't.
In the photo i'm double-socked on the left, single on the right.
Will this get better, or do i need to admit they're too big and (sadly) move them on?

Anyone have Chamois leather? I have charcoal colored rough-out I'm wondering if it might need conditioning, it's starting to lose it's black color and becoming very light. What should I use?

Neatsfoot oil is what I believe Horween uses on its reverse chamois. A little goes a long way and make sure to use an even coat since it will darken the leather.

Any of these have a strong smell that would override the original smell? I love the Chamois smell and would like to keep it if possible. I have a bottle of Neatsfoot that's like 15 years old I gotta go find in storage
