I happen to be a fan of Cucinelli vests. Unfortunately they are getting hard to find and seem to be trading on the second hand market at prices around $700-$900 which seems a tad insane. I would like some alternatives.

    Example:

Here's who I know of that makes a similar style, apparently considered an "Italian vest" consisting of down fill faced with suiting material which creates an interesting combination of the elegant and the rustic:

    - Loro Piana, generally same price range but materials better justify price
    - Crescent Down Works (especially for South Willard), hard to find in stock but priced around $300-$400

Any others? Anyone make these custom?

I bought a house brand one from Off Fifth last year. Quality not nearly as nice obivously, but very similar style. Priced around $100 and good value for that.

You cannot be cheap and want something expensive.

Either save up and pay for the Cucinelli or Loro Piana, or accept something cheaper.

The likes of Landsend, LLbean, Orvis...they all make down vests.

I think nobody in this thread wrote something about wanting something expensive for cheap.

My point is that I am looking for something thinner.

Will try the Aspesi shop in Florence...

    /Edit: Found these too:

If you are in Italy, you should have plenty of choices. I have 2 of these gilets from Cucinelli (brown and grey), one from Moncler (even better fit then BC) and a cheap one from Angelo Nardelli (paid around 70 euros).

I hope you find what your looking for , i too love the style of these vests and was lucky to be in a Cortes Ingles in Malaga when there was a sale i picked up a Burberry vest no where near the same quality as a Cucinelli but i wear it under my blue quilted jacket so it's OK
