I recently purchased a Versace suit online. The website indicated the suit was a Italian size 50 and a US size 40...When I received the suit, the chest and back length were fine, but the arm length was about 1.25 inches longer than a normal 40 Regular.

Is this normal for Italian sizes to run long in the arms? Can this be tailored?

I am a newbie here, but I think I can field this question.

If the chest size and jacket length are correct, then you bought the right size. Just have the sleeves altered.

It is easy to tell if you need a Regular or a Short. Let your arms naturally hang by your side. The jacket length should not extend below your fingertips. If it does the jacket is too long. The ideal lenghth is between the first and second knuckle of your index finger.

They are to be tailored.
