Velvet is pretty but outside of a scarf or perhaps a vest, I stay away -- just because it is so difficult to care for or clean.

If the chicks dig it, then I would not turn my nose up at it. But personally I would draw the line at the office, and would read the care tag before buying to be sure I could live with the maintenance.

As for colors - black, black, and black. Maybe dark brown, or navy. Or a dark tartan pattern if I really want the attention. On second thought a red tartan would work for winter holiday evenings (assuming patterns are even an option with velvet). I could see it.

It kind of seems a Little Lord Fauntleroy to me...

But if the chicks dig it

I don't second the black comment. A black velvet is very shiny and if you want to tone it down a bit, dark brown is the way to go. I would only wear black velvet for a night out.

I would only wear any color velvet for a night out, if even that.

Actually, a night out is (for me) the main occasion for donning velvet of any color in any case. A dressy night out, that is, not a night at the tractor pull or hayride.

Absolute no-no
unless it says "Juicy" on the back AND you're female... then you'll only look out of fashion

Looks like smiley's **** eating smiley. In any case, I like the idea of wearing velvet pants for shock value. Otherwise, I'd feel too much like a moving couch.
