It seemed like everyone in Vegas this weekend was here for Casual Friday... seriously, even in the nice restaurants, it seemed that people were wearing sport shirts or polos and slacks at the dressiest, I saw a couple people wearing suits, and they didn't seem to be too well tailored.
I'll post some pics tommorow.
We went to Mon Ami Gabi for dinner on Sunday, and Prime tonight.
Mon Ami Gabi:
Nice view of the strip, food was fairly good, I had the filet, and my gf had the herb encrusted salmon, and we shared sea scallops parmesan and a creme brulee. Both were quite good, the salmon was flavorful, and the filet was nice and tender, the sea scallops were flavorful, and the creme brulee was fairly good, seemed to be not as sweet as I would have expected however. However, the service was mediocre, the servers failed to remove utensils at inconvenient times, were not particularly attentive, and worst of all, presented me with the check without being queued. I think the food was good to very good, but the service needed improvement. About $80 for two people w/o wine, a bit pricey.
Prime:
Spectacular view, nicely appointed, and the food and service were both top notch. I had the filet and my gf had rack of lamb, with a seared foie gras appetizer we had a nice window table with a great view of the "lake" There seemed to be an entire brigade of servers helping us, and they were attentive without being annoying. Whenever our glass was half full it was filled and the server seemed to appear as if magically just when needed. The steak was quite good, nice crispy crust and extremely flavorful for the filet, while tender. One of the better filet mignons I've had, probably the third best I've had in a restaurant (after Peter Luger's and Randall's in Vail). The lamb was flavorful without being gamey and tender.
They moved us out onto the patio for dessert and drinks, and there was a spectacular view of the lagoon. We shared a flourless chocolate cake with ice cream, espressos, and I had a nice glass of blue label. Overall, a spectacular meal in a great setting, damage was about $160 which was reasonable considering the quality of the food and service.
Didn't seem to be too many good shopping deals in Vegas, I picked up a pair of Purple Label linen pants at Last Call in Primm for $14 and there were some good deals at Williams Sonoma but really nothing in Vegas, the RL store in Caesars has a giant amount of Purple label on 50% off clearance, but they won't honor the 30% FALLEVENT coupon and 50% off on some of their items is really not that cheap (there were a really nice pair of pinstriped wool slacks but they were $225 even after the discount, a bit pricey considering ebay.
