Just to twist the knife a little bit, Chuck, I wore that very shoe today. They're fantastic. Gabor, tack on a $200 surcharge just for Chuck.

Some of these shoes look like they'd never fit my feet... in fact some of them look like they're shaped for people with club feet. Some of them really look to me like Edmonds... very clunky.

Some beautiful lasts, but some unremarkeable ones too.

To each his own, I suppose, but I'd point out that:

1. Vass shoes usually look better in person than in pictures.

2. Yes, many of these shoes are a bit clunky. That's the idea. There really isn't any comparison between Vass shoes and Allen-Edmonds.

3. Vass lasts tend to be banana shaped, meaning that there's a very distinct curve to the outside of the shoe. It's actually much more natural than the more symmetrical lasts that English makers tend to favor. You don't need to have club feet to wear them. In fact, I'd wager that most people would find the Budapest last or the Banana last or the P2 last more comfortable than anything that Edward Green uses.

I have very wide feet, and pretty long feet (14). I don't think I could ever fit into any of those. My feet don't have much of a curve going... I'm flat footed.

In your case I would think Vass' custom offerings would be best.

Well, there are three things going on that impact how they look:

1 - Some of the pics aren't taken from the most flattering angle, 2 - Some of the lasts don't photograph well but look great in person (Budapest for instance) and 3 - some of the lasts are pretty chunky (3636 and some models on the Peter last.)

I should have a price list shortly. I'll post it as soon as I recieve it.

Oh, and I might add, the heavier looking lasts tend to sell the best. Such is life....
