I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of shoes from the Hugo Boss Baldessarini line. I seem to remember a post that refered to Vass as the maker of this Hugo Boss collection. The shoes are made in England. And look very simalar to the Budapest Antic with the L Last. http://www.vass-shoes.com/picture....MG] I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the quality and retail of the Baldessarini/Vass Collection. I would appreciate if Andrew could weigh in on this topic

I'm not Andrew, but I'm sure he'll chime in about it. There was some discussion of this in the past, and I believe that Vass no longer makes them. If they are made in England this would certainly call that into question, I think, as Vass is in Budapest. Still, they very well may be worth getting. Try this link; yours isn't formatted correctly.

Yes, that is the link I was looking for.

The shoes initially struck me to be CJ.

I will try to post pictures of the shoe.

I believe that the relationship between Vass and Hugo Boss was severed at least a couple of years ago. In any event, all Vass shoes are made in Budapest, so shoes made in England could not be from Vass.

I believe Mr Vass acted as designer/consultant for the Boss/Baldessarini line of shoes. That was before Mr Vass started to produce his own range of RTW shoes.

I don't know whether or not there still is a Baldessarini shoe collection and if so, if Mr Vass is in any way involved. It's quite possible the shoes you have been offered are a few years old.

On the other hand, if you like the style and if the price is right, why not get them? They might not be handmade shoes, but if they are made by Crockett & Jones, they will be well-made shoes nonetheless.

about a month ago i spoke with some baldessarini hugo boss canada reps about their line and i was informed that the baldessarini shoes were previously designed and manufactured by ludwig reiter and that for the last two years or so the baldessarini shoes are being designed and manufactured in england but no one with whom i spoke could confirm the exact british maker

I just confirmed they are definitely made by CJ Cardiff tan - Last 325 C&J

    And a pair of 8831-12 Chelsea 3 black -E Last 238 C&J

The last is listed on the shoes.

I think CJ makes the Chelsea also in the Ralph Lauren version.

Well, there were indeed Baldessarini shoes made in Budapest by Vass at one time, but they are no more. A couple of years ago, Gabor saw them at the NY store, along with some other models that were made in England. It seems that they used the Vass shoe trees in all the shoes, the English shoes as well as the Vass shoes, which would have been very confusing. Maybe Reiter was the next supplier after that.
