Let's do this shiznit. There's a couple of ways to go:

1. Choose a shoe out of the catalog, add ankle leather. Quick, easy, painless. I recommend the Old English 2, which seems to have its panels and seams lined up the best:

If anyone has information about this shoe, please advise. A forum member sent it to me early on but never told me where it came from:

2. Create "forum model" that will be like our little secret handshake when we check out each others ankles. Styleforum red on the U last with double sole tapered to a single bevelled waist. Like Sator with RM Williams, these would be stock options tweaked just so. I am also open to suggestions here: high vs. ankle boot, speed laces vs. not, what have you.

2.b. This will take substantial work, mostly on the part of convincing Vass to change their patterns. One commonly requested option is the EG Shannon:

Which would require some reworking from Vass's stock offerings. If there is enough demand for this vs. working from a stock offering, I will discuss with Vass. It will cost more.

Discuss...

Haris Koz 2. Sorry, can't do umlauts with my keyboard, but google will understand if you plug it into maps. I'll be over there in an hour or so if you're around.

Cheers

Tom, I'm sorry to sound dim, but are you proposing a Vass bal boot "forum special"?

If so, I'd be interested, as long as I can afford it.
Do you have even a vague idea about how much of a premium this will cost over a standard Vass shoe?

i can´t even participate, but i like the idea...

input taken from gdl´s vass austerity brogue boot: (picture courtesy of gdl)

i would suggest the above boot with an oxford lacing, speed hooks for the last 3 holes, the HAF sole tiger mentioned. as for the colour i think midnight blue is the one of choice. or a very dark dark burgundy.

Speed laces are the worst idea ever. Speed laces work only when you tuck your pants inside the boot. Otherwise speed hooks will be catching the hem of your pants every time you sit down.

I feel that F last would be better for the boot than U last.

F-last asuterity brogue boots. Color dark blue?

F-last is wider in a toe thus captoe will make it look even more wide. I think F-last is perefct for wingtip design, as that pattern would elongate it and balance the natural bulkiness of the boot nicely.

If it is F-last indeed I would suggest these patterns:

Sounds nice. I echo the recommendation for less speed hooks than I have (3 or 4 would be ideal). No speed hooks might look good but will drive anyone insane trying to lace and unlace the shoe. I have boots like that and that's very annoying. Vass does not have different shades of burgundy, but it has oxblood (which is the color of the boots in this pic) between burgundy and dark brown. Navy is pretty niche and doubt it could became a "standard" color for an SF boot

thanks.
I know, blue might be difficult. But on the other hand, those who will consider to order the boot...i think their footwear-wardrobe might have covered all the other colours. And blue...come on...it goes with everything and it is NOT black. This would be the one special shoe....

Word!

How many of you prefer ankle height - say 6-7 eyelets - over the Shannon height?

Well, you know I'm in. I would also prefer F to U.
