"varsity spread" collar?

I came across a Paul fredrick shirt in a thrift store with an interesting collar. It was a spread, but rather than being straight-but-wide, it kind of "bowed". I found it on the website here (please disregard the tacky cufflinks, etc.). Is this a common collar? I think it'd look awesome tie-less and open (less so with a tie though). Anybody know any better-value brands that do a collar like this?

The collar does have a slight cuve to it. This was poular in a straighter spread, still with a curve, about 6-7 years ago, amongst Professional basketball coaches and players. we used to refer to this as the riley colar, named after Pat riley.

I think it is ugly.

krikey! I had no idea it carried that kinda connotation. Guess I'll stop looking then (until I buy a nice 5-button, chalk stripe suit, that is).

Why, would you stop if you like them? I've noticed a lot of "pimp's" wearing collar bars but, I ain't stoppin'

a great looking collar for a thin tie knot. I have it on a Paul Frederick and on a MTM by Mr Tailor.

The MTM store that I go to calls that a curved collar. I think that it looks stylish and have been plotting the design of the shirt with which I would most want one.

I like these collars and used to have a couple (though they were not so spread). I think they got a bad rap when the NBA crowd started wearing oversized versions of them in burned-umber with dark gold suits that didn't fit well. I just ignored them and wore mine with panache.

Actually, I like the combo very much, I would wear that with a navy suit any day to work (avec tie) . . . . There's something about those cufflinks that says I'm in charge!
