first off, i live in canada, in a large metro city, and we dont have that varsity jacket culture and all the baggage that comes with it. i want to wear one because i like the look, a plain one, like this:

note that i am not the athletic type by any means, just tall and thin and likes clothes. i think it looks good, and other people tells me it looks good when i try on some jackets in stores, but i did some reading on the internet about these jackets and there are was so much vitriol, saying stuff like you are a grown up loser if you wear it past high school and you want to relive your past sports days and you are a dumb jock and there was even a post about a korean being spit on by people who wear these varsity jackets.

so what is the deal with these varsity jackets? should i even bother wearing one? i mean one time i wore my moto LJ and a guy asked me if i ride, i told him no, but i didn't mind him asking, i assumed he was just genuinely curious. but i dont know if i want people to assume i am an athlete or something or all the other background problems these jackets come with.

Maybe dumbest thing I’ve read. That’s like saying I’m not gonna wear jeans because they’re associated with American workwear.

There isn't baggage associated with wearing a jacket like the one pictured above, unless one lives in an 80s HS movie. Looks like a nice jacket.

I live in Toronto where you're from and tons of people wear varsity. Roots the icnonic Canadian brand has a staple varsity.....Drake's OVO brand has lots of varsities.

What on earth are you talking aboot?

It's definitely okay to wear this.
But I don't recommend you to buy something you have doubt in. You must be confident with what you wear.

If it's completely wool I would rock it. But the combination of leather sleeves makes it tacky as hell.

Navy or black wool, solid colors without the stupid sporty lines.

Other than that, the one in OP's post is perfect for the frat boy that wears boat shoes without socks.
