I've been wearing vandas for years and I rarely have the tail stick out from the front unless I'm moving and bending down

    Today's Vanda.

Don't think it's crazy at all toga e people notice it. I've worked at places where people would try to force me to put the back blade in the keeper.

Needless to say, I am no longer at such an abominable place.

I first ordered a tie from Gerald before Vanda became Vanda, and the tie didn't have a keeper back then, either.

I asked Gerald about it, and he said that he preferred to make the ties that way, as he felt that it suited their style - light, partially unlined, no keeper and so on.

Over time, I've become accustomed to it and now, if I find that the back of the tie is flapping in the breeze, I just tuck the shorter, narrower end into my shirt, into the space between the buttons. Another solution would be to use a tie clip.

@Tallcane, @Journeyman got it 100% right - we don't make our ties with keepers because we don't, and feel you shouldn't, use them too.

I confess we're a little OCD with some things, but pretty accommodating with most other things though!

In case you weren't aware, we can make bow ties out of any necktie fabric as long as fabric is available. Some fabrics (e.g. heavier tweeds) may not make sense as bow ties, but most others would make lovely bow ties too.

As an example, our Green-White Dots:

Okay. I think you are conveying that keepers are out. I will respect that but it helps me to have the keeper and be able to use it as needed.

As I mentioned, I just tuck the tail of the tie in-between my shirt buttons to hold the tail in place. Given the light construction of Vanda ties, I don't even notice it's there.

I actually have this tie from a Vanda MTO 2-3 years ago. I love it.

It's rare, but I'm wearing one of my Vandas today. They're definitely summer-oriented, at least in my wardrobe, hence have been in hibernation for a few months. But Fresco and Linen season will soon be upon us. Today is a mix of Fresco and lightweight flannel, and I thought this Vanda would look good in that mix.

That's really awesome, Gerald. I had no idea you'd have to draw out an entirely new pattern for each size combination you make rather than there being some sort of a universal pattern that you simply expand/contract as necessary. That said, I know very little about sewing, though my wife dabbles in it, so it's no surprise I didn't have a clue.

Thanks for sharing it! Would you mind if I use the picture on my instagram?

Not at all- please go ahead.

We definitely could, but keeping a paper pattern allows for best consistency between orders.

@The Noodles - very well done. Great knot!

Some new arrivals on our webstore!

The new self-striped grenadines are a nice alternative to a solid grenadine - those stripes are really subtle when worn.
