So I was in Filene's today and saw a bunch of Valextra neckties... $60 each.

Anyone know anything about them - like who makes them? Opinions?

I actually wasn't all that impressed with them...

Did they have an RN number?

I only have one. It's nice enough (a solid hunter green 'twill'), and very subdued. No keeper to speak of. Just a little folded 'Valextra' label that sticks out perpendicular to the blade.

I think I got it at Saks a couple of years ago for $25....

Weird, I thought that Valextra only made leather goods.

Right -- the little folded Valextra label sticks out... what I noticed is that instead of sticking out perpendicularly from the blade, they're now at a 45 degree angle! I thought that was a nice touch... Yeah, I was thinking they're more in the $25-$30 range as far as their quality... AnGeLiCbOrIs mentioned Church ties... the Church ties (at least the ones at Filene's) I would say are nicer than these Valextras...

Nope! Nothing at all... just "Made in Italy." "Silk." and "Valextra." They were kind of flimsy. Lands End makes a better tie IMHO. I guess it's all about the bottom dollar, but I felt a twinge of sadness to see them trying to get $60 for a $25 product just because it says "Valextra". Has Valextra jumped the shark? Church -- stick to shoes. Valextra -- stick to leather goods. Hermes bridged the gap, but it took years.
