I bought a Valextra wallet a couple of years back and was pleased enough with it to buy a briefcase off eBay recently. When it arrived, two of the metal corner protectors had fallen off.

The leather is really rather nice quality, but I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with the construction of their products. Also, has anyone ever encountered a fake Valextra?

I have a Valextra portfolio and the construction is fairly robust. The stitching has worn well, as has the internal zipper. That said, it doesn' have metal corners, so I can't speak to that directly.

I have yet to see a fake Valextra, but given the rise in popularity of the mark, I wouldn't rule it out.

Hopefully yours just suffered a bit in shipping...

Well, I have heard that their quality aren't as high as the prices. But the metal corner protectors falling off? Maybe you just got a bad one, it happens sometimes, to all types of products.

NEver heard of fake Val; the model on ebay had been on it off and on for a long time; it may have been an old model, deadstock, found in an attic, thrifted or G-d knows what. I hadn't seen one ever like that in their catalogs. I think Valextra resembles Hermes in pricing philosophy: quality is very, very high and prices are inconceivably high -- overpriced is tyhus hard to quantify./
