Lets talk utility jackets. Any particular favorites? J.Crew one is ok, but not cut slim enough, a little too boxy. Barbour is an option, but don't want/need the waxed cotton. What else has that Barbour like vibe and quality?

I tried the J.Crew, their jackets (and long-sleeve shirts) never fit me right, they're always too big in the torso, too short in the arms, but good in the shoulders. Price, keeping it under $400. I don't mind spending a little extra for a quality garment that'll last me many seasons.

It's not the most "SF-approved" brand but I would suggest looking at Spiewak. You won't take a huge hit in the wallet over their jackets and they fit pretty slim.

then maybe get a barbour in a fabric other than waxed cotton? there are numerous options. maybe sylkoil will suit your needs?

i have a military surplus utility jacket i picked up for 8-10 bucks... its rather modern but very warm with a good fit.

I got the J.Crew faded black one.
Agree that it is alittle boxy but the price was right.

Albam pursuit jacket down from £250 to £139. Plenty of pockets and a removeable inner lining. Absolute bargain imo and a great fit :
