Using suit jacket with different pants

Do you ever use the jacket of a suit with other pants?

Sporadically, but it can only work with a very limited number of jackets. I basically only do it once in a while with a plain charcoal jacket that is part of a suit. With a striped jacket it will not work for sure afaik.

As you correctly pointed out, the Glorious Twelfth is a faux tweed, but I still think some the patterns in the book work okay as separates.

Also, medium to heavier fresco can work if you put in details in the jacket that blunt its suit-i-ness. Cue Blazer Suit...I have a different approach in the works.

Although the fly landing on the cuff was a tip, I have to say that seeing that shirt with that jacket gives off the wrong air, a little too business like which is always the case with classical shirts.

No worries and I am hardly a heavy myself in matters of business but I just noticed this. I like the shirt, I like the suit, I like the pants (on you) but somehow the overall look is a bit at odds, maybe if the tie were a little more colorful? If you had on a checked version of the same shirt. Im not averse to people wearing what they want but this looks like you had a business suit on and got something on your trousers at lunchtime and had to wear another pair. Also interesting that the shoes match the trousers almost exactly, was that intentional?

I like the shirt, I like the suit, I like the pants (on you) but somehow the overall look is a bit at odds, maybe if the tie were a little more colorful? If you had on a checked version of the same shirt. Im not averse to people wearing what they want but this looks like you had a business suit on and got something on your trousers at lunchtime and had to wear another pair.

That's a fair critcism.

The colors in the full body digipic are a bit too saturated compared to reality. Here's closeup of the shirt, tie, square and jacket from that day:

I would agree that a checked shirt would have been better.

I dont like the shoes

I do like the suit and I realize the color is off. The glorious twelfth is a way for contemporary men to wear the tradition of tweed without the weight and hairy texture. I have to get one myself and I like the city-like color you chose; I might pick that very one myself. With matching pants and darker shoes that's as business a look as anyone could expect with enough texture to add both interest and a sense that you enjoy clothes more than most people without an obvious clue as to why that might be. How have you enjoyed wearing the cloth, how do you feel it reacts to a variety of factors in your environment?

I have two suits, a nailhead navy/steel blue and a light gray. Both are the same weight material with no pattern. I occasionally do swap the pants and coats around. Perhaps more often I swap the vests. Wearing the gray vest with blue suit strikes people as quite formal, or so they tell me.
